So I mentioned in my previous post that finding the right balance is hard and often in my life there is an imbalance in terms of where I'd like to be focusing my energy, especially when it comes to me time.
I'm sure you've heard these two words before - self care, but what does it actually mean and how do we as women playing multiple different roles ensure we get enough me time?!
I hate to break it to you but there is no specific recipe for self care, what works for one may not work for another. Some days we get our fix of self care, other days (sometimes weeks) we don't. It's important to remember that you're not alone in finding the right balance to allow yourself some me time (and you shouldn't feel guilty when you do)!
As a mum of two young boys, a wife, a homemaker, a professional and a small business owner self care sometimes feels like an impossible ask but its probably the most important. To really be the best versions of ourselves we need to make sure we are happy and healthy - physically, emotionally and mentally. It is only then that we can really set forth and conquer this crazy world we live in.
I'm not perfect but I am real and I recognise the need to be selfish sometimes and just focus on me. My self care doesn't usually happen until the kids are asleep so its late in the evening and Im tired - its a green tea, a tasty treat and a trashy tv show most nights. Although currently being on maternity leave has meant that a nice morning walk with my 3 month old its a great opportunity to let it all go and just focus on myself and my little one for half an hour.
So think about what makes you happy and healthy. If you had 10 mins each day just for you how would you spend it? Would you do some exercise, read a book, chat to a friend, eat a meal (in peace and quiet), have a long hot shower - sometimes its just the simple things that give you happiness and help recharge your energy to continue on.
